Why Do Tulsi Mala Contains 108 Beads?

Tulsi is considered as the most auspicious plant in Hindu tradition. The mala made up of tulsi stem has been used since ages. The Tulsi Mala is consists of 108 beads. The number 108 is considered as the most scared number and has its own significance. As per the astrology, the zodiac sign is divided into 12 signs and located at a distance of 30 degree from each other. The sun is the signification of the 1st as well as 9th house. Hence when we divide each zodiac sign into nine it give rise to 9 divisional charts. That means each sign of 12 zodiac signs consist of 9 divisions that results into 108 divisions. Similarly, the moon consists of 108 tone and 108 padas as per the lunar zodiac signs. 

All these divisions, padas and tones help sin establishing peace and happiness in our life. It’s a step that helps us to connect with the Divine power to obtain the metal peace and happiness. Due to these believes, as per the Hindu custom all the Havan or Homam performed to maintain the peace and happiness, the chanting of mantras, or the prayer recitals are done with the mala that consist of 108 beads that helps in incorporating the power and energy of 108. The same applies with the Tulsi mala that contains 108 beads in it.
