Rudraksha: the significance of faces

The name Rudraksha is made of two words: Rudra, the violent and worrier form of Shiva, and Aksha which means eye, or in this context ‘tears’. Rudraksha trees grow in mountainous regions like Himalayan range. That is the reason when it comes to selecting genuine Rudraksha beads; people consider rudrakshas from Nepal better than the variants available in India. The rudraksha bead comes in different sizes, however the value of a rudraksha is decided by the number of faces it has.
The faces or the mukhs of rudrakshas are separating lines that extends from top of the seed to the base.  The important aspect of focusing on faces of Rudrakshas is that those faces are not simply cleft lines on a seed; they have a significance deeper than that.

Rudrakshas and their faces:
Ek Mukhi / Single Face:  Relates with the pure consciousness. Directly connects with the Lord Shiva.
Fused/ Double Bead: Fused Rudrakshas represents infinity
Do Mukhi / Two Face: Such Rudrakhsas are associated with Ardhnareshwar form of Lord Shiva.
Tree Mukhi/ Three Faces:  The three-faced Rudraksha is representative of Agni. It is therefore associated with the heart chakra of the body. Wearer of such rudraksha gets cure from fear, guilt and depression and such psychologically inferiority complexes.
ChaturMukhi / Four Faces: Symbol of Brahma. The rudraksha is thus associated with the power of memory and creation.
PanchMukhi / Five Faces: Most suitable for anyone out of all rudrakshas, this five-faced rudraksha is associated with Rudra. It brings health and peace to the wearer and good for everyone
ShashthaMukhi/ Six Faces: Kartikeya (increases inteliigence, steady mind, sexual functions)
SaptaMukhi/ Seven Faces: Mahalakshmi (Wealth)
AshtMukhi/ Eight Faces: Ganesha (Removes obstacles, brings success)
NavMukhi/ Nine Faces: Shakti (Energy and Power)
DashaMukhi/ Ten Faces: Vishnu
EkadashMukhi/ Eleven Faces: Hanuman (Wisdom, right judgement)
DwadashMukhi/ Tweleve Faces: Surya (Good for administrators and executives)

In ancient scriptures, rudrakshas upto 14- faces have been mentioned. Although with exploration, rudrakshas upto 21-faces have been found. Overall Rudrakshas should be wore on the basis of one’s body chakras and one’s planetary influences. To know more about Rudrakhsas , you can log on to srieconnections.com

Rudraksha for awakening your body chakras

It is often a commonly asked question about Rudraksha- how a seed from the fruit of a tree that is usually found only in the Himalayan range can create positive energy circles for everyone. The important thing to note here is that Rudraksha is not just an ordinary seed. It is the mystical and powerful gem of Hindu mythology and meditation. Srimad Devi Bhagvatam in its 11th Skand , (Chapter IV, Part 1-21) states, “If one wears Rudraksha beads on one’s wrist , one attains moksha. Also, Whenever a Vedic injunction is performed with Rudraksha , the fruits obtained are unbounded.”- Which is clearly an indication into the mystical powers of the Rudraksha.
Let’s first understand the chakras that reside inside and outside of our bodies- Chakras are energy centres that channelize the flow of cosmic energy into the human body.  There are seven chakras in the human body according to ancient and traditional ayurvedic science of India. A person is termed to be healthy even if three out these seven chakras are functioning and regulating properly.
The seven chakras namely are-
  • Muladhar Chakra/ Base Chakra
Situated at the bottom of the spinal column, this chakra balances left and right parts of the body; cleanse the inside of the body. It stands for personal security and fulfilling the personal needs.

  • Swadhishthana Chakra / Sacral Chakra
Located at Sacral Bone, this chakra is represented by six petals. The chakra plays an essential part in sexual wellbeing, reproductive cycles, hereditary traits and the balance of hormones in the body.

  • Manipura Chakra / Solar Plexus
Just behind the belly button, this chakra is represented by ten petals. People who have most of their energy centered at solar plexus are workaholic and they like to work and called as Karmayogi.

  • Anahata Chakra / Heart Chakra
The name is evident as this chakra resides right below the human heart. Anahata Chakra is represented by 12 petals and it encourages love and joy inside the human body and mind.

  • Vishuddha Chakra / Throat Chakra
Situated behind the Thyroid gland, Thorat Chakra keeps the basal metabolism rate in the balance. It cleanses the body from within.

  • Ajna Chakra / Brow Chakra
Placed between two eyebrows, this chakra can empower a human body beyond the imagination. It provides mental stability and calmness to a person. It also opens the door to knowledge if awakened with rigorous yoga and Satvik lifestyle.

  • Sahasrara Chakra / Crown Chakra
The Chief of all chakra, Sahasrara or Crown Charkra stands for Spirituality and enlightenment. This chakra can only be awakened if a person has taken enough endeavour to awaken the rest of six chakra inside the body. Meditation and a puritanical approach in life can drive a person towards achieving the ultimate enlightenment
Chakras are essential part of the human body and consciousness. Be it Crown Chakra, Brow Chakra, Throat Chakra, Heart Chakra, Navel Chakra, Sacral Chakra and the Root Chakra; they all regulate the flow of the energy inside our body. Which is Why Rudraksha can help in balancing the negative vibration of the body. In fact, every Rudraksha is associated with corresponding chakras –
  •  Ek Mukhi / One-faced - Related to Vishuddhi Chakra –Major element – Space
  • Do Mukhi/ Two-faced - Related to Anahata Chakra- Major Element – Air
  • Tree Mukhi/ Three-faced- Related to Manipura – Major element - Fire (Ideal for those who suffer from fear, guilt, depression)
  • ChaturMukhi/ Four-faced-Related to Swadhisthana – Major element – Water (for creativity and
  • PanchMukhi/ Five-faced – Related to Mooladhara- Major element – Earth
Each Rudraksha has different power and its own personal mantra. If invoked with power in the right way, a rudrakhsa can bless the wearer and channelize the flow of the energy in and around a person. Different linds of Shiv Lingam

1. Daiva-lingas are those installed and worshipped by the gods and other celestial beings, and thus named after them. They continue to exist in the present day and on earth, but their origin is traditionally ascribed to the gods.
2. Asura-lingas are those installed by the class of the wicked titans (known as asuras) but were pious and zealous devotees of Shiva (like Ravana);
3. Arsha-lingas were installed and worshipped by sages of yore (like Agastya).
4. Purana-lingas are those which have been celebrated as installed at the very distinct past by mythical personages.
5. Manusha-lingas are those that have been caused to be made by human patrons (rulers, chieftans, wealthy folk etc) in historical times
6. Svayambhu-lingas are the forms which Shiva assumed to manifest himself.

Egg Shape of Linga

The Lingam is shaped like an egg and represents the ‘Brahmanda’ or the cosmic egg.

There are two types of Shiva Lingam. One is a black meteorite egg-shaped stone.
The other one is man-made and is solidified mercury. Solidifying mercury is an ancient Vedic science. Shiva Lingam represents the totality of the Cosmos and the Cosmos, in turn, being represented as a Cosmic Egg.

Since Lord Shiva is described as having no form, it is ridiculous to maintain that Lingam represents a phallus. This is the reason why Swami Vivekananda described Shiva Lingam as the symbol of the Eternal Brahman, when a German Orientalist, Gusta Oppert traced it to phallicism. Swami Vivekananda cited Atharva Veda that the worship of Shiva Lingam was sung in praise of sacrificial post – a description of the beginningless and endless of the Eternal Brahman and refuted it as an imaginary invention

Parts of shivling

Shiva Lingam Usually consists of three parts.
The bottom part which is four-sided remains underground, the middle part which is eight-sided remains on a pedestal.

The top part, which is actually worshipped, is round.

The height of the round part is one-third of its circumference.
The three parts symbolize :-
Sri. Brahma at the bottom,
Sri. Vishnu in the middle and
Lord Shiva on the top.

The pedestal is provided with a passage for draining away the water that is poured on the top.

Flower Yoga

" Flower Yoga "

Don't think this is another new Yoga, Just sharing a small thought on " Padmasana "

Hatha Yoga, a major branch of Yoga, the lotus position, padmasana, is adopted by those striving to reach the highest level of consciousness, which itself is found in the thousand-petaled lotus chakra at the top of the head.

Padmasana, “posturing of the body like a lotus.”

Like the traditional yantra grids around which temples are shaped, the yogis shape their bodies around the model of the open lotus flower, summoning the harmonious forces that will assist in the blossoming of their consciousness. For divine consciousness is the ultimate symbol the lotus stands for.

Lotus blossom not only adorns every contemporary yogi, but it adorns the history of the human race as the crown symbol most frequently and consistently engaged to communicate something divine, something perfect, a harmony that excels human experience. Composed of multiple concentrically arranged petals, represents a synchronized unity, in which many parts join together to function as a whole. From the innate potential within a budding lotus, to the fully opened blossom, the journey is aimed at purely imbibing the three constituents of divine being sat, cit and ananda.
