Ganesha Chaturthi is a festival that has been getting celebrated on forth day of bright half of the Bhadrapad. In Sanatam Dharma the Lord Ganesha is considered as a symbol of intellect (budhhi) and wisdom (vijnana).

The various elements of Lord Ganesha have its own meaning and reason behind that. The huge elephant head of Ganesha represents the ability of human being to think big in every aspect of their life. The only one tusk of deity signifies the dedication of an individual towards their work or goal. Wide ears of him signify wisdom and ability learn as well as to hear the people who require help. Spiritual And Scientific Reason Of Ganesha Visharjan

The last ritual that is performed at the end of Ganesha Chaturthi festival is the Ganesha Visharjan or Ganesha Immersion. In this ritual, devotees get the Ganesh idol to the nearest river of seacoast for its immersion in water. As per the belief, it has been said the deity goes back to their home after giving blessing to all their devotees.

However, the other version of the story says that, during this festival the idol of the Lord Ganesha has been made from the soil of the nearest rivers, ponds and tanks for the purpose of fresh water restoration in that by digging out the clay or soil from it. They use that soil for idol making of the deity and after worshipping the idol during the festival immerse at the same place. The various herbal elements used while worshiping the idol such as turmeric and many other herbal materials has also been immersed in the water, which acts as a helping agent for the sea living such as fish or tortoise to grow.

Ganesha festival is not celebrated as spiritual or Hindu ritual it also serves the cause of environmental protection.

Proper Way To Worship Lord Ganesha

Lord Ganesha is believed as a removal of obstacles. It has been believed that worshiping Lord Ganesha helps an individual to achieve lots of good luck, prosperity and peace in their life. Ganesha Chaturthi is one such occasion that is considered as the best time to worship the deity. Thousands of believers bring the Ganesha idol at their home or office to seek the blessing of the deity.

Things that we require are:

• An Idol of Deity.
• Modak (his favorite food)
• Flowers (especially red in color)
• Coconut.
• Druva (grass blades)
• Intense sticks
• Sandalwood paste & powder.

The first thing that you need to do is clean the entire house, especially the place where the Ganesha idol will be placed. After taking a bath, take the idol and place them at a higher platform. The next step involves the Pran Pratishtha with the mantra that you can find in the Rig Veda. Learn the various mantras and bhajans to recite them while worshiping the deity. Rituals Performed During Ganesha Festival

Ganesha Chaturthi has its own significance. It has been getting celebrated with loads of spirit and faith since ages. It has been observed that the process of welcoming Lord Ganesha starts from few days before itself of the festival. Devotes of Lord Ganesha brings an idol of the deity to their home or office or in various pandals with lots of cymbal’s sound and chanting. The face of the idol is being kept till the Sthapana of the supreme power with lots of decoration around that place. It has been believed that the idol gets imbued with life after the rituals performed by the priest during the sthapana.

After this procedure, devotees perform the traditional puja that begins at designated time. The devotes worship the idol or the deity while offering him holy water and his favorite modaks along with devotional chanting with bells, cymbals and claps.

It continues for the remaining ten days of the festival, after that the time comes when the deity is ready to go back to his own heavenly abode. Immersing the idol in the water performs this ritual; this process is referred as Visarjan. Thousands of devotes of Lord Ganesha takes part in this and moves to the nearest river or the coastal areas for visarjan while chanting the line “Ganapati Bappa Morya Purchya Varshi Laukariya” again and again.
