Margashirsha Lakshmi Puja is followed on Thursday in Margashirsha month
(November – December). This puja is devoted to Laxmi Goddess, the Hindu Goddess

Both women and men observe Mahalakshmi Puja and fasting. Married couples

Premises and home must be kept clean and neat. The fast starts after taking

after having bath. Fasting begins from sunrise to sunset. On this day, person
who is following vrat can eat banana, milk, and fruits. People who are doing
this Margashirsha Lakshmi Puja invite 7 married and 7 young girls on this fasting
day and offer them haldi kumkum, fruits, and Mahalakshmi Vrat katha book.
Women and men do fasting and Lakshmi puja. Married women perform this
puja with their husbands. It is observed in the evening. Devotees read
Mahalakshmi Vrat and Mahalakshmi Mahatmya. Mahalakshmi Naman Ashtak and Sri
Mahalakshmi Arti are chanted on this day. In the evening, after performing Mahalakshmi
Vrat vegetarian food should be consumed, this usually served to Goddess.
